Ecopharm Mycodefen Medicated Nail Polish for Healthy Nails with Fungus 8% 0.22 fl oz (6.6 ml)
Description
Mycodefen 8% medicated nail lacquer is a medicinal product with local antimycotic action.
The active ingredient in Mycodefen is ciclopirox, a hydroxypyridone derivative that has a broad spectrum of action and inhibitory activity against all pathogenic species causing onychomycosis, including Trichophytum rubrum, Epidermophytum floccosum, Candida albicans, and Scopulariopsis brevicaulis.
Ciclopirox is active against dermatophytes, candida, chlamydia, and other fungi, as well as Gram-positive and Gram-negative microorganisms.
- Results from studies on the mechanism of action show that the fungicidal action of ciclopirox olamine is based on the inhibition of the uptake of vital cellular components and, at the same time, the induction of the extraction of other essential cellular building blocks
- Ciclopirox penetrates the nail plate and reaches the pathogenic organisms 48 hours after application, and 2-3 weeks after application, depending on the nail, a concentration gradient of the active substance is observed

Usage
Unless otherwise prescribed, Mycodefen is applied in a thin layer during the day during the first month, at least twice a week during the second month, and once a week from the third month onwards. The duration of treatment depends on the severity of the infection, but should not exceed a treatment period of 6 months. Method of administration Before the first application of Mycodéfén, as much of the affected nail as possible should be removed, for example with scissors. The hyperkeratotic layer should be removed with a nail file. Use a marked nail file for the affected nails and remove the applied varnish once a week with nail polish remover. During this procedure, remove as much of the hyperkeratotic layer from the nail plate as possible. If the lacquer layer is damaged between two applications, it is sufficient to reapply Mycodefen to the damaged areas. After each use, it is recommended to close the cap tightly to prevent the solution from drying out. Avoid contact between the brush and the bottle opening to prevent the cap from sticking.
