Ingredients
Ascorbic acid 100 mg Excipients: Microcrystalline cellulose, Glucose monohydrate, Stearic acid, Talc
Usage
It is administered orally. It is taken with water. Recommended doses: Adults - 100 to 600 mg daily (one to six tablets daily); Children aged 1 to 6 years - 100 mg (one tablet daily); Children 6+ Years of age - 100 to 300 mg (one to three tablets daily). Contraindications and special warnings for use Vitamin C should be used with caution Important information: in patients with phenylketonuria, erythrocyte glucose 6 phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency, hemochromatosis, thalassemia, sideroblastic anemia, hyperoxaluria, glucose-isomaltase deficiency, as well as in conditions accompanied by increased blood clotting. High doses should be avoided in patients with nephro- and urolithiasis. Smoking reduces the absorption of vitamin C (lower plasma levels are demonstrated). Taking high doses of vitamin C may affect the results of transaminase, lactate dehydrogenase, bilirubin, and fecal blood tests. High doses of the vitamin (more than 2 g daily) may compromise reduction tests for detecting glucose and creatinine in blood and urine (glucose oxidase disc test). Due to the mild stimulating effect of vitamin C, it is advisable not to take it at the end of the day. Side effects: They are usually mild and pass quickly after discontinuation. With prolonged use of high doses of CITRUS VITAMIN C (over 1 g/24h), insulin release in the pancreas may be suppressed, or headaches, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea (related to the osmotic action of ascorbic acid in the intestinal lumen), colic, skin redness, and increased diuresis may occur. High doses may create conditions for precipitation and formation of oxalate, cystine, and urate kidney stones. Drug and other interactions Vitamin Vitamin C participates in microsomal metabolism and may alter the metabolism of a number of medicinal products. It may lower the pH of urine and reduce renal tubular reabsorption of alkaline medicinal products, which necessitates an increase in the doses of most medicines, especially at high doses of vitamin C. Vitamin C, when administered together with acetylsalicylic acid, increases plasma levels and the effects of salicylates. It may reduce the effects of amphetamines and tricyclic antidepressants due to decreased renal tubular reabsorption. It has a mutually potentiating effect when taken with medicinal products containing gonadotropic hormones and vitamin B, and an antagonistic effect with thyroxine. Concomitant use with deferoxamine increases iron excretion in the urine. Ascorbic acid increases plasma levels of estrogen products and all oral contraceptives. Vitamin C should be taken two hours apart from Vitamin B12 because it is broken down by it. In high doses, vitamin C can prolong prothrombin time and reduce the effect of anticoagulants. Ammonium chloride reduces plasma vitamin levels. Vitamin C, administered in doses above 1 g/day, increases alcohol elimination due to the activation of alcohol dehydrogenase. Pregnancy and breastfeeding High doses of vitamin C are not recommended during pregnancy as it crosses the placenta and may harm the fetus. Such doses should be prescribed by a doctor after assessing the benefit/risk ratio. It is excreted in breast milk, and with adequate intake of Vitamin C by the mother, no additional intake by the infant is necessary. Effects on the ability to drive and use machines Citrovit does not affect the ability to drive and use machines.
