Vacuum cleaning of the nose - steps 1. Preliminary preparation: Plug the vacuum cleaner into the mains (plug the cable into the socket), then place it near the area to be cleaned so that you can turn it on with your hand or foot. 2. Assemble the device as shown in the picture and place the bell-shaped connector in the vacuum cleaner hose. Now all you have to do is turn on the vacuum cleaner. 3. Put a few drops of saline nose drops into both of the baby's nostrils. (The 0.9% saline solution is physiological, its composition is identical to that of tears. It does not sting or irritate, it only moisturizes and thins the secretion.) After 3 minutes, you can begin removing the moistened nasal mucosa and thinned secretions. The drops dissolve the secretions that have dried on the walls of the nasal cavity, allowing vacuum cleaning of the nose to be performed safely without damaging the mucosa. 4. If the body is in the correct position, the secretions flow towards the nose, thus facilitating their quick and efficient removal. Newborns and infants do not yet have such abundant and thick secretions that a full vacuum is necessary, so there is no need to press the other nostril. This would be impossible in children of this age anyway, because as soon as the vacuum cleaning device is placed in one nostril and the other nostril is closed, the baby will immediately open its mouth. Vacuum cleaning of the nose in young children 4. b.) Sit the child on your lap with their back to you. If necessary, squeeze their legs between your legs. If you have someone to help you, they can hold the child's hands in case they resist. Ask the child to bend their head forward - this will help remove the secretions. At this age, if the child is able to cooperate, you can press the other nostril with your fingers; this will create a complete vacuum and clean the nose more quickly. A complete vacuum leads to more efficient and faster cleaning of the nose, but is not mandatory. It can be achieved when the child is able to cooperate. Ask the child not to open their mouth until you have finished cleaning their nose; this will help you finish more quickly. What is vacuum nasal cleaning: when the nostril is closed, a vacuum is created in the nose, causing the secretion to pass from the middle nasal passage to the common nasal passage. Thus, after releasing the nostril, we can remove the secretion from the common nasal passage. This is very important when the secretions are thick. Liquid secretions flow by themselves from the middle to the common nasal passage, from where they can be easily removed with the help of a vacuum nasal cleaning device without a full vacuum. Before vacuum cleaning the nose at any age, it is mandatory to use nose drops! 5. Turn on the vacuum cleaner. Thanks to its design, the nasal vacuum cleaner has a constant suction power of 0.2 bar, which is completely safe even when cleaning the nasal cavity of a newborn. 6. Place the suction tip in the nostril. Inserting the device into the nostril and correct use Hold the suction tip with your right hand so that the silicone tube points upwards. This is important to prevent secretions from flowing into the tube. This will keep the device clean and you will only need to wash the suction tip and container, but not the silicone tube. Insert the suction tip into the nostril as deep as the cone-shaped tip allows. It is not necessary to insert the device very deeply or to press down, as this does not affect its effectiveness. If necessary, apply a thin layer of Sudocrem cream around the baby's nose to prevent redness or irritation that the secretions may cause. 11. Disconnect the device from the vacuum cleaner. 12. Disassemble the suction tip and wash it under running water. If necessary, you can boil it or sterilize it in another way (e.g., by soaking it in a sterilizing liquid). When cleaning, remove the suction tip from the container. For more effective cleaning, you can also disassemble the suction tip. The nasal vacuum cleaner can be disassembled into 5 parts, which greatly facilitates cleaning and increases the sterility of the device. 13. Once the parts of the device are dry, store them in a clean place so that you can use them immediately next time.
